Ellen McCormick Martens grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and has since lived in Oregon, New York, and now the Clear Lake City area of Texas, where she works in her home studio. A painter since the mid-1990s, she has exhibited in numerous juried and solo shows, with work ranging from visionary symbolism to layered abstractions.

Throughout her life, Ellen has studied ancient mystical teachings, including mythology, alchemy, astrology, Tarot, and Qabalah. These traditions continue to infuse her paintings with archetypal resonance. Today her creative process arises from inner promptings—dreams, visions, and meditations that guide her toward imagery both timeless and deeply personal.
